Five States Join NASHP’s Medicaid Policy and Strategy Learning Collaborative

by NASHP

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) ushered in sweeping changes to Medicaid and other health and human services programs, and many states face tighter budgets due both to shifts in revenue and the impacts of the law. Given the need for states to develop short- and long-term strategies, NASHP has launched a new initiative, the Medicaid Policy and Strategy Hub Learning Collaborative (the Medicaid Hub), supported by Arnold Ventures.

NASHP will work with the following 5 states over 18 months to advance program sustainability goals while balancing quality, access, and accountability:

  • Delaware
  • Nevada
  • Utah
  • Virginia
  • Washington

Technical assistance will focus on supporting state teams with identifying and addressing program efficiencies and cost drivers balanced with maintaining program goals, OBBBA implementation, best practices for program integrity and oversight, considerations related to coverage, and continued engagement with key health system partners.

In addition, the Medicaid Hub will provide a forum for participating states to share strategies, the latest information, and specific steps and considerations as they adapt to the evolving Medicaid and health policy landscape. NASHP will also develop detailed resources for all states about actionable strategies and create a public clearinghouse of resources from external state policy thought leaders and subject matter experts.

Priorities and technical assistance resources will be informed by a state advisory group comprised of health leaders across a geopolitically diverse group of states, as well as a complementary advisory group of national experts in state health policy and key partners across the health and health care ecosystem.
