Dawn Stoltzfus

Dawn Stoltzfus is the senior director of communications at NASHP, where she guides the organization’s communications, messaging, and outreach strategy and promotes NASHP’s leadership role in state health policy. Dawn is a public relations professional with more than two decades of experience in the private, nonprofit, and government sectors who has led numerous communications and policy campaigns around health, environment, and social justice issues. Prior to joining NASHP, she served as senior director of strategic communications at the Nova Institute for Health, where she worked to increase awareness about the many factors that influence health. Previous to that, she led The Hatcher Group’s Annapolis, Maryland, office with a focus on public relations around state policy and advocacy. She also served as communications director at the Maryland Department of the Environment, as deputy director and communications manager at the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, and as publications and electronic communications manager at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. She began her career in book publishing. Dawn earned her BA in English literature and minored in creative writing at West Chester University in Pennsylvania and studied abroad at the University of Wales at Swansea in the United Kingdom.
