340B Drug Pricing Program State-Only Webinar

The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) invites you to register for the 340B Drug Pricing Program State-Only Webinar. This webinar will focus on the ways in which the 340B Drug Pricing Program intersects with state health policy.

The federal 340B Drug Pricing Program allows qualifying hospitals and clinics (known as covered entities) that treat low-income and uninsured patients access to rebated outpatient prescription drugs. Covered entities can bill their patients’ health plans for these drugs at the negotiated rates, which creates additional revenue for the entities.

While supportive of increasing access to lower cost prescription drugs and financing critical providers, states do face challenges with the program. Primarily, these challenges stem from the program’s opacity and among other issues, the limitation it creates for payers, including Medicaid and the state employee health plan, to access other drug rebates that reduce their reimbursement costs.

During this session, expert speakers will provide an overview of the program, highlight one state’s solution for increasing transparency, and discuss the challenges states are experiencing with the program.

Participants will hear from representatives of the Minnesota Department of Health, who will share the results of their groundbreaking 340B Covered Entity Report, and from the New York State Department’s Medicaid Office, who will highlight the impact of 340B on their state Medicaid program’s access to the Medicaid Drug Rebate and the steps taken to address it.

Please note this is a state-only call, therefore only state government officials will be approved to attend.
