States are examining how best to deliver Medicaid services to ensure health care quality, provider access, and control costs — and some are weighing whether or not to leverage managed care to achieve their goals and how. The session highlights states, including Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Minnesota, that have taken different approaches to reform their Medicaid care delivery. Officials will discuss approaches that include ending contracting with managed care organizations (MCOs), options for increasing accountability for MCOs, and ways to leverage MCOs in payment and delivery system reforms.
