The State of the States in Delivering Health Care for Children in Foster Care: Findings of a State Survey
A 1999 survey of states by the National Academy for State Health Policy sought to examine the specific policies and procedures states have adopted to minimize these barriers and to ensure that the health care needs of children in foster care are met. The survey questionnaire was mailed to both Medicaid and Chief Welfare officials in all states in the fall of 1998. Forty-five officials from 35 states reported making efforts. This report provides a snapshot of those efforts as of the end of 1998/start of 1999.
