Rural Hospitals Knead the Dough
Thursday, August 22, 1:30 pm – 3 pm
Half of US hospitals operate in rural communities, providing access to health care services for often-underserved communities across the country. Challenges, such as higher-than-average costs, workforce shortages, and reduced patient volumes threaten sustained operation of these essential access points to care. In this session, state officials share innovative payment initiatives designed to bolster rural health care and a Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation official discusses how states can leverage new federal initiatives to address rural health concerns.
