COVID-19 has had a detrimental effect on routine immunization rates across the country. States are employing a variety of strategies to address disparities in vaccine access and uptake, particularly for individuals enrolled in the Medicaid program.
NASHP provides technical assistance to states and highlights innovative strategies that policymakers can use to address barriers to access, including increasing provider participation in the Vaccines for Children Program, improving immunization information sharing across Medicaid and immunization programs, and identifying messaging best practices to promote vaccine confidence.
