NASHP instituted a Strategic Partnership Program in 2014 to align with corporations who wish to invest in NASHP to support excellence in state health policy. Working together, this will ensure the maximum impact of NASHP’s work as a non-profit and non-partisan organization supporting states as they reach across branches and agencies examining and creating solutions to critical health issues. State policy leaders and private corporations have much to learn from each other, and our partnerships help foster a collaborative environment. However, all our products and their content are created at the sole discretion of NASHP.
So far this year, we are proud to announce we have created strategic partnerships with the following companies:
The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is a national federation of 37 independent and locally operated Blue Cross® and Blue Shield® health insurance companies that collectively insure more than 105 million people—one in three Americans.
For 85 years, Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies have worked alongside physicians and hospitals to deliver high-quality, affordable healthcare to their members. Today, Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies are located in all 50 states and in every ZIP code, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. They serve Blue Cross and Blue Shield members through a network that includes more than 96 percent of all hospitals and 92 percent of physicians in the United States.
With the nation spending $2.8 trillion annually on healthcare, Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies are taking action to reward quality care and address healthcare costs. The Blue System’s national breadth combined with the depth of Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies’ local roots make them uniquely positioned to lead the transformation of the healthcare system to one that rewards quality care and better outcomes for patients, while helping to rein in costs for everyone.
Collectively, Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies are spending more than $65 billion a year in innovative programs—about one in five medical claim dollars—that provide incentives for care coordination and improved patient outcomes, while reducing waste and duplication in care delivery.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies are also forging strong, local partnerships to improve health and wellness in their communities. In 2013 alone, Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies devoted more than $363 million to support community health initiatives across the U.S., and their employees volunteered more than 370,361 hours to community service. Key areas of support include initiatives to broaden access to healthcare, improve healthcare quality and affordability and enable healthier living.
Together, Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies are creating stronger, healthier communities and a healthcare system that’s ready for the future.
That’s The Power of Blue.
