Health System Improvement

Pharmacist talking to seniors

It is widely recognized that many patients in the United States do not receive appropriate, evidence-based health care.  Given the complexity and fragmentation of the current health care system, it is essential that states collaborate across agencies and branches of government, as well as with the private sector to improve system performance.  NASHP works with states to develop models that emphasize safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.  These models emphasize the use of health IT, care coordination, payment reforms, and identification of adverse events to improve patient safety and the quality of care.
