Having health insurance and a regular source of healthcare are both associated with better health outcomes. Across America, states are striving to provide health insurance coverage and access to care to their residents. NASHP assists states to effectively and efficiently provide and improve health coverage by supporting state to state sharing. Learning about the successes and challenges of their peers, state health policy makers develop creative health insurance options and innovations in public programs. NASHP also works with states to improve health care access, including through community health centers and other safety net providers, and to share best practices for assuring access to care. By creating forums for dialogue between state policy makers and health center representatives, NASHP helps to inform policy makers about primary health policy issues.
